Year 7  HoY Weekly Message

Wow. What a great start back to Term 3. Students have settled back into school life and are all excited for the term ahead. We have so many things to look forward to, too! Trips, Year 6 + Year 7 Experience days, sports events, projects during class and much more!

As we move through the term, I want to take a moment to remind our Year 7 students just how proud we are of the effort, resilience and positivity you continue to show each day.

Year 7 is a big step — new routines, new expectations and new challenges — and it’s completely normal to find some moments harder than others. What matters most is that you keep going, keep trying, and keep believing in yourself. Progress doesn’t always happen at all at once; it builds through small, consistent efforts.

Year 8&9 HoY Weekly Message

We have had a really positive start to Term 3, with students settling quickly back into school routines and approaching the week with a focused and mature attitude. It has been lovely to see them return refreshed and ready for the term ahead.

A particular highlight this week was the Year 9 performances on Wednesday evening. The students were fantastic, demonstrating great confidence, creativity, and commitment. We are very proud of the effort they put in, both in preparation and on the night, and we hope those of you who were able to attend enjoyed the performances.

We ended the week in a lovely way by celebrating Hari Raya, with students invited to wear national dress or green. It was wonderful to see the school community come together to mark this special occasion.

Year 10&11 HoY Weekly Message

It was lovely to see all the students back after the holiday. The Year 11s seem focused and just need to remember that all their teachers are ready and willing to help in any way we can with the final push. Not many days of lessons left before study leave begins on Thursday 23 April. I will send a letter out to all Year 11 students and parents next week just running over arrangements for the exam period. The celebration committee is working away on organising the Year 11 final assembly on Wednesday 22 April and plans are developing for the Celebration evening on June 13, by which time exams IGCSE exams will be behind them.

There is lots to look forward to on the horizon - many of our Year 10s (and a few Year 11s) are eagerly anticipating BGIC. Perhaps less eagerly anticipated are the end of year exams for Year 10. Students were reminded about these in assembly this week (they will have up to two hours of exams/subject in the first two weeks after the mid-term break). Giving themselves time to prepare for these will be really important to enable their teachers to properly assess their progress and identify targets moving forward. We will of course be regularly reminding students that these exams are coming up.

Year 12 & 13 HoY Weekly Message

It was lovely to see all of our IB students back in classes this week, looking refreshed and ready for the term ahead! Year 13 have been working towards submitting all final assignments as well as making memories through the always fun Sponge the Senior event! It has also been great to see the students putting in so much effort to rehearse for their final assembly on the 17th of April in which we look forward to celebrating all our graduating students.

Year 12 have also had a busy week with all of the preparations for BGIC which is taking place next weekend. This is a fantastic student-led event and one in which our students make ISB proud every year with their professionalism, collaborative skills and hospitality. They also had a session with Mr. Glantz, our CAS Coordinator to learn about the CAS Projects aspect of the IB Core and planning ahead for their own projects.

Head of Residence Weekly Message:
It has been a real pleasure to welcome our boarders back to the Residence after the holiday. There has been a wonderful sense of energy, positivity, and community spirit across the house, and it has been fantastic to see everyone reconnect so quickly.

This week, we were honoured to host the MoE & EDGE team for an Afternoon High Tea. This provided a valuable opportunity for our scholarship students to engage in meaningful, informal conversations, developing their confidence, communication skills, and ability to represent themselves and the Residence so positively. Experiences like this are an important part of preparing our boarders for life beyond school.
We also enjoyed a well-attended Parent Coffee Morning, where we chatted on Dopamine Awareness for Term 3. I shared my growing concerns around “dopamine addiction” the cycle of instant gratification often linked to social media and gaming. As part of our ongoing pastoral provision, we will be introducing more structured education around this area, helping boarders to better understand how their brains respond to technology and equipping them with strategies to build healthier, more intentional habits. It promises to be an exciting and purposeful term, with a strong focus on personal development, wellbeing, and global awareness. Once a Leopard, Always a Leopard.
