End of Term Message to all Parents

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have had a wonderfully successful virtual Term 1, capped off today with Achievement Assemblies and student-led celebrations. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the students for their efforts since the start of term. During virtual school students have remained on task, kept focused and supported each other. Despite the challenges of going virtual, students have made excellent progress. We are also very proud of all new students who joined us during Term 1 as they have demonstrated resilience and positive attitudes.

Looking back on the term, we have had a range of exciting virtual events including:

  • virtual elections for student leadership positions,

  • students take part in the ASEAN Business and Economics forum,

  • sent a representative to the Southeast Asia Kindness Leaders Conference,

  • run Mental Health First Aid training courses,

  • run a virtual Wellbeing week for the entire community and trialed virtual Parent-Teacher meetings for the first time.

In Term 1 we also launched the new Parent In the Loop website, aimed at streamlining communication with you and to provide as much information as possible about all of the exciting thigs that take place in Secondary at ISB.

Please access the final updates for the term here:https://secadminmgr.wixsite.com/intheloop including the new tab focused on the IBDP at ISB.

We would like to thank all parents and guardians for the support you have provided your son/daughter during Term 1 and in helping us to keep students on track and motivated. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all Secondary teachers and LSAs for their efforts during virtual school – they have worked tirelessly to develop online learning activities, adapt to the new system of live lessons and independent tasks, support students and have learnt new skills to ensure that virtual learning has been exciting, vibrant, and dynamic.

We look forward to being allowed to bring students back to campus, and we hope it will be early in Term 2. We have already started planning on how to support students on their return to campus - how to help them transition from virtual school to face-to-face education and support them through re-developing their communication and social skills, including school routines. As soon as we have information on whether we will be in virtual or face-to-face mode we will be in contact with the community, and as we did in 2020, we will make sure that any necessary protocols are in place for a safe return for all staff and students.

We hope our ISB community are all able to have a well-deserved break during December and look forward to seeing everyone, refreshed, re-invigorated and ready for an exciting new term on Wednesday 5th January 2022.

Happy holidays to you and your family!

Kind regards,

Stephen Kay

Head of Secondary
